Natural and sustainable: the KAPLA® choice

KAPLA planks are made exclusively from French maritime pine, a wood sourced from sustainably managed forests in the South-West of France.

This natural material has been selected for many reasons, notably its quality and aesthetic appeal:

- its density ensures durability and ease of handling;

- its resinous nature provides the necessary friction to reduce slipping during constructions;

- its pronounced grain makes each plank elegant and unique.

Each plank is precision-cut to specific proportions, guaranteeing optimal balance for construction.

The wood used is neither treated nor varnished: it is raw and 100% natural. The high precision of the cutting process and the choice of high-quality wood result in planks with a perfect finish. Choosing pine from the Landes region favours a renewable and local resource.

For the coloured versions, the shades applied are based on paints that comply with European toy safety standards.

Responsible manufacturing

The production of KAPLA planks is based on a carefully controlled process. KAPLA works with suppliers capable of meeting its quality requirements. These partners select, cut and dry the wood, which is then cut and sorted at each stage by KAPLA teams.

The first production stage takes place at the Ambarès site in Gironde (France). Created in 2023, it allows for an even more rigorous selection of the parts of the pine that will be kept to manufacture the planks. All wood offcuts are recovered and reused by partner companies.

The second production stage is located in Saint-Louis-de-Montferrand (also in Gironde and home to KAPLA’s head office since 1991). Finally, the final cutting, colouring of the planks and packaging take place at the Tangier site in Morocco, opened in the early 2000s.

A game designed to last

KAPLA planks are designed to support users over the long term: a single box allows endless building and rebuilding, with no obsolescence.

By its very nature, KAPLA is a durable game, passed down from generation to generation.

A material at the service of creativity

Wood offers a simple and direct sensory experience. It allows users to focus on what matters most: building, experimenting and starting again.

KAPLA thus offers a wooden construction game that is durable, educational and respectful of the environment.
